Seven

7 Things I find annoying

1. When I’m reaching the end of a good book.

2. When we run out of tea at home.

3. When I’m mid-sentence on BBM and my batt runs out.

4. When I make silly grammar mistakes.

5. When I am misunderstood.

6. When people don’t finish their sentences (hence leaving room for assumptions!)

7. When people say ‘scuse’ instead of ‘excuse me’.

7 Things I like

1. Waking up to a nice cuppa tea.

2. Hearing jokes. Even bad ones.

3. Smiling faces.

4. Getting messages from long lost friends.

5. Listening to songs I’ve forgotten about.

6. When my gibberish is understood.

7. Fried chicken.

Tainted

She can’t survive with what’s in hand

She needs to honour her part

For every time he needs a friend

She falls from grace

She’s back to the start

Wrongs that aren’t righted

Increasing apprehension

Has she decided to forget..?

The truth, apparently tainted

In her extended conclusion

She refuses to live in regret

“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more.

You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself.

Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful.

There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are.

The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again.

Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby.

Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon.

You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible.

You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you.

You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end.

Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.” - Bob Marley

Friendship

“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

“Breaking up” with a friend is just as difficult as breaking up with a partner, if not worst.

A friend is the one you go to in times of need, at the oddest of hours, with the most peculiar of problems. The one you can be yourself with, who doesn’t judge you, who’s always there to help you, and the one who thinks the best of you even when you know full well you’re at the lowest of lows and feeling like sh*t.

But with all human relations, nothing lasts forever and nothing is carved in stone.

There will be a point when you realise both of you have outgrown your friendship. Your friendship stays at a standstill where your main reason for staying cordial is due to the fond memories you had together.

Absolutely nothing wrong with maintaining friendships like that for not everyone grows the same way and everyone’s interests and views changes over time.

Though you may no longer serve each other’s growth, doesn’t mean you must cut each other off cold with bitter arguments, spiteful words and hurtful remarks. There might come a day when the person you have taken for granted is the very person that you need.

Everyone we meet is fighting a hard battle so what is wrong with being nice to each other and being a friend.

But then again, friendship, like any relationship, is a two-way street. The give and take has to be equal, with a foundation of respect and trust. Strengthened by unconditional love and full acceptance of the other’s idiocyncracies.

To find that someone, or a few ones that you can totally be yourself with, both at your strongest and most importantly at your weakest, that to me is the luckiest a person can ever get.
